Depression therapy is a structured therapeutic process that helps you understand the roots of persistent low mood, emotional numbness, or hopelessness, and develop strategies to reconnect with the things that matter to you. At Oakville Therapy by Counselling & Co., our Registered Psychotherapists (RP) and Registered Social Workers (RSW) use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), behavioural activation, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and other evidence-based modalities to treat major depressive episodes, persistent depressive disorder, and situational depression. Sessions are available in-person in Oakville and via secure video across Ontario.
Our Approach
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) — identifies and challenges negative thought patterns that maintain depressive cycles
- Behavioural Activation — gradually re-engages you with meaningful activities, countering withdrawal and avoidance
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) — addresses underlying attachment needs and emotional disconnection
- Narrative Therapy — helps you rewrite limiting personal stories and reclaim agency over your life
- Mindfulness-based approaches — develops awareness of depressive thought patterns without being overwhelmed by them
